On the first day of spring, March 20th, the Creative Collective Old Town Hall (Loomekoondis Vana Vallamaja) officially opened its doors. Who is behind the Creative Collective and what do they do there? As the charming pale pink logo suggests, the Creative Collective is home to five women from Muhu:
Triinu Traumann – she likes fabrics and heritage technologies and patterns. Today, she calls herself a mixed media creator – she is captivated by the play of different colors, pattern elements, techniques, crafting methods, and materials. She creates modern practical items using contemporary methods while utilizing resources responsibly.
Gea Rahel Promet – Fashion designer, graphic designer, and lecturer at the design department of Kuressaare Vocational School. As part of the Creative Collective, she enjoys creating beauty for her fashion brand Moonsund.
Piret Lember– a versatile freehand and sharp-eyed embroiderer who can create anything from a pair of traditional slippers to a striking modern embroidered garment. She has a keen eye for choosing colors and creating patterns.
Piret Tärno – A graduate of the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy, whose current focus is on knitted items, especially hand knitting.
Eva-Maria Kaasik – Muhu Brands e-shop coordinator.
In summer, the doors of the Creative Collective will certainly be open daily, so we welcome everyone to visit! You can also purchase products from the Muhu Brands selection, as well as items from the displays by Triinu, Piret, and Gea. The industrious women are planning to organize various workshops and events during the summer, so keep your eyes and ears open! We wish the women of the Creative Collective a pleasant time of collaboration and a busy summer!
