The creator of the MuRu Craft brand, Pille-Riin Luht is from the beautiful Southern Estonian city of Võru. As she now has found her home on Muhu island, then the first part of the MuRu craft name is where these lovely places of Estonia meet.
Pille-Riin’s biggest passion throughout her life has been handcrafting. When she was a child, she loved sewing clothes for dolls and creating cool outfits for them. After high school, she honed her skills in sewing school and in different textile businesses. When her children were born, there was the need to make them jersey scarves and hats. As they were comfortable, practical, and cool, then Pille-Riin started to make hats and scarves as presents. That got the ball rolling. She started getting her first orders and that led to the creation of her own business. Currently, MuRu Craft offers scarves, hats, headbands, sweatshirt dresses, sports clothing, etc.
Pille-Riin is fond of real Estonian handcrafts and native patterns and has always dreamt of being around them. She is especially mesmerized by the Muhu pattern with its vibrant colours. Because of that, she is ever grateful for the fact that her life brought her to the Muhu island, into the heart of all of its beauty. All MuRu Craft products are born here, in the Muhu handcraft studio which is located in the Liiva village in the centre of Muhu island. A lot of fascinating ideas for products are born in Pille-Riin’s home, in the midst of junipers and pine trees.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by life itself. If I see something that I find cool, my mind will start racing right away. It could be the smallest little detail, but when it has grabbed my attention, it will lead to something new.
What do you love most of all?
Most of all I love myself, or at least I am working towards it 😉 Most of all I also love my family. nice doses of sauna and sunshine are great additions to that.
