Muhu Liha Tulundusühistu / Muhu Meat Commercial Association gathers the lamb and cattle farmers of Muhu island

We started working together out of practical necessity – to market the animals we’ve grown ourselves. The members of our association have lamb and cattle farms on the Muhu island. By now, we have good business partners on other Estonian western islands – Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Manija, Ruhnu, and Osmussaare. Our goal is to offer you delicious meat of happy sheep and cattle grown in the meadows of Estonia. All our raw materials come from Estonian farms and the products are made on the island of Muhu.

We want to offer you what we eat ourselves. The meat of free-range lamb and cattle. The meat, grown over a long period on naturally species-rich pastures, is healthy and delicious. Our manufacturers do not use fertilizers or pesticides. Muhu Liha’s products are made from the meat of animals raised in pure nature.

Animals from many of our manufacturers maintain semi-natural communities in nature reserves and thus contribute to the preservation of species richness. The alluvial and coastal meadows of the Estonian islands need light summer grazing every summer to stay open and rich in species. Sheep and cattle are perfect for this, as they can spend their summers eating delicious food rich in species and at the same time helping to preserve traditional species-rich landscapes.

• What inspires you?

We are inspired by the fact of being part of something bigger than just us. The Muhu nature has developed to be wonderfully rich in species as a result of how cattle and people have worked with it over hundreds of years. It is rich in plants, bugs, and birds. We can be a part of this long and ancient tradition, giving our small input in carrying it forward.

We love the community spirit and power that comes from working together. Great things can be achieved only by working together.
